Dr Tom Pering Tom has over ten years experience using and processing ultraviolet cameras and their data. He completed his PhD in Sheffield in April 2016 is currently a Senior Lecturer and has been working in Sheffield since. Tom has conducted UV camera fieldwork across the globe, beginning his career working on the volcanoes Etna and Stromboli (Italy), also working in locations such as Vanuatu, Chile, and Hawaii (USA).
Rebecca England Rebecca finished her undergraduate degree in Sheffield in 2018, conducted a masters degree in volcanology at Bristol University and has now returned to Sheffield. Rebecca is now currently undertaking her PhD, starting in October 2023, using our Raspberry Pi technology to investigate optical absorption of volcanic gases.
Hannah Calleja Hannah finished her integrated masters degree in Sheffield in 2021, including a prize for the best dissertation in her final year. She is currently a PhD student at the University of Edinburgh, with a research focus on the roles of gases and volatiles in shallow volcanic plumbing systems. She recently interned at the Hawai’ian Volcano Observatory, where she was involved in monitoring Kilauea’s gas plume using our UV cameras.
Dr Thomas Wilkes Thomas has almost a decade of experience with ultraviolet cameras, completing his PhD from Sheffield in 2019, which led to the initial design of our Raspberry Pi cameras. Thomas finished his Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship in September 2023 which focused on volcanoes in Ecuador. Tom has experience conducting UV camera field work in a range of locations, including remote volcanoes such as Bagana (Papua New Guinea) and Lastarria (Chile).
Alyssa Heggison Alyssa finished her undergraduate degree in mathematics at the University of Edinburgh in 2023 including a prize for the best group dissertation in the final year. Alyssa started her PhD in Sheffield in March 2024, titled, automated analysis of volcano imagery with machine learning techniques.
